Hill Country Mission for Health

Hill Country Mission for Health is a 501(c)3 charitable health care clinic that provides primary healthcare for eligible adults between 18 & 64 years of age, who are low-income, are uninsured or under-insured, and who reside in Kendall County communities. Accordingly, the services of this clinic include assessment, diagnosis, medical management, and counseling regarding life-style choices that impact over-all health and wellness, as well as disease management.

The idea for Hill Country Mission for Health, began in 2002 as the brain-child of Ms. Joyce Clair, a local Nurse Practitioner who had a burning desire to provide affordable healthcare to the uninsured individuals of our community. Joyce described her inspiration as being a calling from God, so she brought a group of volunteers together from a truly giving community, and along with the help and support of many others, established Hill Country Mission for Health. As a result, private donations and an initial grant from the Kronkosky Charitable Foundation provided the original funding to purchase a mobile medical clinic, which was our first clinic “location”. As well, St. Helena’s Episcopal Church generously spearheaded additional fundraising efforts and provided a temporary home for us during the first 3 years of the Mission, located at the “Old Gun Shop” which is now Jefferson Bank, at Main St. and John’s Road in Boerne.

Then, in 2006, with the very generous support of the Rotary Club, a permanent location was built at 122 Commerce Avenue in Boerne to provide real and expanded space in order to see more patients, as well as a garage to house the Mobile Clinic. Initially, our Mobile Clinic also traveled to Bandera to help care for patients there, until the establishment of their own freestanding building, which is known as the Arthur Nagel Clinic.

Over the years we have been blessed to be able to provide primary medical care for thousands of residents of our community. And, with the unselfish donation of time and effort from our wonderful staff, volunteers, and treasured donors, we are able to keep our costs low, maximize our resources, and provide the much needed care for our patients that they otherwise would not be able to receive.

Hill Country Mission for Health is graciously supported by the following foundations…

Our organization has been tremendously blessed by these Foundations, as well as so many wonderful individuals, businesses, and agencies in our community.

If you’re looking for an opportunity to give back to the community, please thoughtfully consider joining our team of supporters – whether it be through financial support or becoming a volunteer – every little bit counts toward the great big picture!

Luke 6:38 – “Give, and it will be given to you. Good measure, pressed down, shaken together, running over, will be put into your lap. For with the measure you use, it will be measured back to you.”

We hope your day is blessed!

Thank you,
